Our idea of a heavy metal song came from the challenging of media ideology that the man is the powerful character, in our video the woman is supposed to show a strong female, this is unusual in heavy metal as it is usually a masculine sound that is aggressive and fronted by a man. This will be the videos unique selling point the way that we will be putting a more politically correct twist on what is generally considered a masculine type of music. Media ideology is the ideas behind a media text and agenda of its producers. It is common for an issue to be raised such as gender, sexuality, racism and crime and punishment etc. every thing has an ideology behind it; our group is choosing to focus on sexual harassment in the workplace as an ideology.
Sexual harassment is common in the work place, as an ideological value our group believes that sexual harassment is often represented in music videos but it is a problem that needs to be addressed as 31% of the female workers reported they had been harassed at work by men.
To achieve this ideology we are going to have a woman being sexually harassed by her boss, who is spanking her and getting her to bend to pick things up so he can get a nice view of her bum etc. We are also going to have the woman in her thought of following and then killing the man in a fantasy of hers. To show her resent for the man out of her thoughts and in the office we are going to have shots of her looking hatefully at her boss.
The ideology can be interpreted differently by different people for example some men might interpret this as women are always whinging about everything whereas some women will interpret it as men are so disgusting and abusive.
