Editing Angel Dust

Our idea involved a lot of pre-production planning because we needed to create a social networking site without breaching any copyright laws so we could not for example use an already made site like facebook or myspace and we did not want to seem like we were atacking a particular weiste for low privacy and making it seem like they are just places for killers to find thier next victim, so with a lot of thought and planning we came up with the very original name of facespace and then had to slightly redesign the layout and colors used on the actual sites so in the end we had a similar web page layout without breaking the law, we did this using photoshop and the skills we had been taught when designing our horror posters. Once we had our web design we took photos and put them in to the facespace profile the photos had to relate to the story line to help the audience understand and visualize the background of the story.

Here we can see the two major social networking sites and thier logos and colour scheme they are very similar with a blue background and then white text in a similar font. For facespace we used the same colors as you can see and a similar font. We thaught it would be inportant as this would make the film seem more realistic as the audience can identify with this and regognises it as a facebook or myspace similar website wich is what we want to achive to and extent without breaking any copyright laws.

once we had established how we would present out social networking website and eddited it on photoshop our next job was to design a logo for the production company we would make. we decided to call the production campany awkward turtle picturesAs it just seemed like a catchy name and there was a hand gesture which is currently quite commonly known among the teenager audience which we are targeting so it would make the company more current. We managed to find a drawn Hand performing an awkward turtle action on the internet so we copied and pasted in onto a light blue colour, we intentionally made the colour of the background the same as the face space logo background to attempt to link the production company with the individual film as we had seen this done in other films a great example of this in my opinion is the opening scene of watchmen, the watchmen logo is this smiley face shown below and at the start of the film the screen is yellow and then Warner brothers appears on the screen in black writing then the camera begins to track out and you realise that the yellow is actually a badge that a man is wearing. I think this is a fantastic example of making the credits individual to a film. we also used a similar font on our production company title as we did to the name of the networking website all this we hoped would create more familiarly for the audience. To finish off we put a streak of blood across the middle of the hand (similar to in the watchmen smiley face) this would create a more sinister feel toped of with sinister red writing underneath saying productions.

We finished up on Photoshop by designing the web page that the killer would use to blog about his victims and progress with luring them in. The website was called art box as obviously it could’nt be called something like stalker.com as it needed to be more discrete and something like art box could have a different interpretation to a killer who perhaps perceives his evil deeds as a form of art, we wanted it to be as twisted as possible and this really was the sort of level we were aiming for. Having some artists work on it like Damien Hurst whose art often conforms of chopped up animals, although beautiful it is still within the law. We wanted the website to be like a social networking site but for sick and twisted killers where Leicester727 (the killer) would air all his dark thoughts and his plans with angel233 (the victim) and the development of his false relationship with her. Using a red background and gothic like titling font combined with the sick pictures of dead and cut up animals I think we achieved this. We also wanted to create a image in the audiences mind of this minority website (art box) being like the predator of the majority website (facespace) the concept is creepy because the website art box quite discrete but a haven for killers who are actually looking through people like the average Joes facespace details and know where they were last night or what they are doing next weekend. is i thought this would be a very effective method of creating that scare factor in our film by the scare factor I mean something the audience can relate to what they are watching and maybe it can make them think, “ what if I’m being watched?” or, “do websites like this really exist?” Below are two examples of the artbox pages.
