camera work

In this lesson we were using digital cameras we learnt that Digital cameras take images that are made up of small squares of color called pixels when pixels are close together it can look like a full picture (Cameras that use film do not use pixels). The camera we used had both optical zoom and digital zoom. Digital zoom is not preferable as it damages the image quality and pixels become more obvious, it works by cropping the images then enlarging it and this can also be done on a computer so it is better to use optical zoom this works by changing the lens on the cameras focal length and its magnification to zoom in on objects using optical zoom is better because the image quality stays high.
We went around school experimenting with the digital cameras testing out different types of camera angle, lighting and framing of the photographs we had been taught that the inputs of the photo would change the overall outlook of the finished photo graph for example if it is dark the shot might look more sinister or if the camera angle is not parallel with the ground it may look a bit awkward.

we also had a lesson recently using the cameras and learning how to film with them. we learnt that you shouldnt rewind when filming because it ruins the timecode, we also learnt about the hot spots when filming and that we should have 4 important intresing points on each hot spot. we also learnt about camera angles we can use for example the camer filming over someones sholder links that character to what the camer is looking at and a camer tacken and a wonky angle shows us that the character is going a bit mad also that if a character is shot at a low angle it makes that character seem more powerfull. we also learnt about shot ranges for example close up mid-shot long distance shot. the lesson was very iontresing and a usefull introduction into filming.
