Editing The Preliminary Task

The tape was uploaded to the Final Cut server from witch we accessed in final cut pro after we received the edit proxy (digital copy of raw footage) we created a log bin in which we could store our logged shots, the log shots are the best shots from each sequence as we took multiple takes for each we needed to pick the best ones carefully.
I for marking in and O for marking out to tell the computer what specific bit we wanted to take out, modified the shot then named it and saved it in the log bin. We tried very hard to keep continuity in our editing and to make the story easy to follow and have a smooth flow to establish a logical coherence between shots. Some shots were weak due to lighting and even though acting is not important for this activity sometimes actors stepped out of their frame so we could not use these shots. Some times the continuity was also a problem for example in one shot the eye line of a character does not match the other shots so it confuses the audience so we could not use this shot. We tried to edit the footage in order to suit the storyboard but at the same time we were having problems with the shots so it was difficult to find a balance with keeping to the story board and using only the best shots.
When filming we tried to get the biggest mixture of shots to give us more options when editing from using ECUs to wide shots theses can help us achieve a more interesting viewing and also help us control the audiences concentration so they read the footage how we want them to rather then just letting them look anywhere. For example if we want them to follow one character more then the other we will have more film time on that individual or if we want to make them see important actions we may use a ECU on them to show it is important for example an ECU of the briefcase symbolizes the importance of it. we then positioned the shots we wanted to use in the order required on the timeline in final cut pro from using our storyboard we moved the clips we had in our log bin and then cut them together. but we had to make sure it was not static when the shots changed on cuts it can sometimes look robotic.
